Travel and Transport

The QMU Green Travel Plan

The QMU campus is built to very high specifications in terms of sustainability, and it is the intention that this be seen as an opportunity to make significant changes in the way we operate in work, study and our lives in general. It was a precondition of the planning permission for the campus that a green travel plan be put in place to minimise the impact of our arrival on the existing transport infrastructure and the local environment. This travel plan is a part of the mechanism by which these operational changes are made.

The Green Travel Plan necessarily links with other environmental and health issues and is managed by the Depute Director of Facilities who liaises with agencies for these issues, both within QMU and externally, particularly with members of other institutions (EAUC Edinburgh Network). Key aspects of the Green Travel Plan include both development of infrastructure, and promotion and development of lifestyle and attitude changes. These changes will be monitored and evaluated against existing modal analysis, to determine areas of improvement and to support further sustainable travel initiatives.
