Bike to Work Cycle Facilities Get Started Why Cycle? Get Involved Plan Route

Cycling and walking to work or school can be helpful on many levels. Here are a few reasons you should trade in that car for a bike or pair of shoes.

Get fit - on average, cyclists live two years longer than non-cyclists, are as healthy as an average person 10 years younger.

Lose Weight - Burn calories and raise your metabolic rate, helping to keep weight off!

Save Some Money - Unlike a car, a bike doesn't require road tax, an MOT or breakdown cover. Plus, there aren't any fuel bills and parking is free! A good bike will cost you very little in maintenance per year. Walking only requires a comfortable pair of shoes!

Get There Early - Cycling in cities can be twice as quick as driving. If walking or cycling, your journey time won't be affected by heavy traffic so you can usually arrive on time.

De-Stress - Cycling and walking can be a great way to relieve energy built up by stress and anxiety.
