Welcome to the Speech in Down's syndrome pages at The Speech Science Research Centre, at Queen Margaret University. Here you will find information about our project "Assessment and Treatment of Impaired Speech Motor Control in Children with Down's syndrome" funded by the British Medical Research Council (MRC) and a related PhD research project, " An investigation of the voice quality of children with Down’s syndrome and its impact on listener judgements". You will also find information about electropalatography (EPG) and its use in assessing and treating speech disorders.

What is Down's Syndrome?
Down's syndrome is a genetic condition caused by the presence of an extra chromosome. People with Down's syndrome all have a some degree of learning disability and many people with Down's syndrome experience difficulty with speech and language development.
