Sports Facilities


Queen Margaret University Sports Centre offer a range of facilities to staff, students and the general public. We provide a safe, friendly and informative environment for our customers so you can enjoy your chosen sport to the full. Our staff, who are trained to a high standard, endeavor to provide you with a high quality service and are happy to assist with any questions you may have.


Facilities
Our facilities include:

- fitness suite - Refurbished June 2013
- weights room - Refurbished June 2013
- exercise studio
- astroturf suitable for 5-a-side or 7-a-side football
- sports hall - 4 badminton court sized
- outdoor gym - installed September 15

Opening Hours

Monday - Thursday 7.30am - 10pm
Friday 7.30am - 8pm
Saturday & Sunday 9am - 4pm

Sports Centre Survey

We want to hear from you!

We have now launched our annual Sports Centre survey. It's your chance to have your say, and we would love to know what you think.

It will only take a few minutes of your time to fill out. Each person that completes the survey will be entered in to a  prize draw for the chance to win a 2 month free membership.

Bootcamp

Spring into summer with our first outdoor Bootcamp.

Dates: Monday 25th - Saturday 30th April 2016

Times: Monday - Friday 6.15pm - 7.15pm and Saturday 9.30am - 11am

Price: £25 per person or sign up with a friend and get 2 places for £40

Courses

FIRST AID AT WORK - Automated External Defibrillator (AED) included

This 3 day course covers a wide range of CPR and First Aid skills. It’s aimed at those who would like to become a qualified First Aider within their workplace, however it is also suitable for those who would like to learn lifesaving and first aid skills. This is a practical course which is fully compliant with the guidelines set out by the HSE for employers on selecting a training provider.

On the course you will learn about the role and responsibilities of a first aider, how to assess an incident, how to manage casualties who are unconscious, including CPR and AED for those not breathing normally, how to manage bleeding, burns and scalds, fractures and injuries as well as how to recognise and manage a casualty suffering from a major illness e.g. Asthma attack, Seizures.

Cost: £250        QMU Staff, Student or Gym Member: £225

 

FIRST AID RENEWAL - Automated External Defibrillator (AED) included

This course is suitable for you if you are already First Aid at Work qualified and need to renew your certificate.

If you are interested in attending this course, please contact the sports reception and they will keep you informed of course dates as they become available.

Cost: £185      QMU Staff, Student or Gym Member: £175

Green Power

Our new equipment, from Life Fitness, has been developed to improve the energy efficiency of QMU, reducing the Carbon Footprint and helping it become a greener facility. Options will include being able to power your own TV on bikes by cycling like Sir Chris Hoy. Such “green” innovation goes hand-in-hand with the Universities Environmental Policies.
