Specific Language Impairment in Scotland
Special Interest Group (SLI) SIG
The SLI SIG is a Scottish wide forum to discuss and promote the interests of those with Specific Language Impairment and provide support for those working with this client group. It is run by a committee of elected representatives from Perth and Kinross, Tayside, Fife, Lothian and the Borders.
Dates for SLI SIG meetings can be found under events.
The SIG is under the auspices of The Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (http://www.rcslt.org) and has been running since March 2007. Our aims are:

2. To provide mutual support, help and encouragement to all members.
3. To exchange ideas and information.
4. To discuss policy with regard to working with children and young people with SLI in Scotland.
5. To create more interest in, and knowledge of, SLTs role with children and young people with SLI in Scotland.
6. To improve multi-disciplinary communication and understanding of children and young people with SLI in Scotland.
7. To promote and participate in projects linked to the welfare and treatment of children and young people with SLI in Scotland.
8. To raise awareness of all aspects of SLI in Scotland.
9. To liaise with RCSLT Advisors.
Attendance at the SIG meetings is open to all RCSLT members, including student and associate members, as well as interested members of associated professions. Fees for the meetings will be collected on ‘a pay as you go’ basis, normally around £25. There will be a separate student fee, normally £5.
