Qualitative Social Studies Cluster

Research conducted within this cluster examines the individual and social meanings of experience across a broad and diverse range of everyday life.  A particular focus is on identifying barriers to full social participation and on ways of promoting inclusion for everyone in all forms of social, health and educational activity. 

Specific areas of interest include the following:

  • Identities, social groups, social inclusion/exclusion, citizenship and social participation;
  • Individual and social meanings of health and well-being;
  • Discourse and communication in face-to-face and online interactions;
  • Creativity and well-being in learning
