Common Thread Bursary
Queen Margaret University is pleased to offer the Common Thread Bursary of £1000 per year for up to four years. Any student who has experienced the care system is eligible to apply for this Bursary. The award will be given to the student who has the greatest need and preference will be given to someone who has come from a care background
Who is eligible to apply?
Applicants will have had experience of the care system. Students studying health care subjects who have experience of working with vulnerable young people are also eligible to apply. To qualify for this award you must be a British national and resident in the UK
We can award the Bursary to one student starting their studies in 2012.
When must I apply by?
You should apply by 5pm on Friday 31st August 2012
How do I apply and how is my application assessed?
To apply for a bursary you must complete the application form below. In particular you should complete a supporting statement of between 500 and 1000 words. You should include in this statement
- A short description of the experience that you have had of the care system, such as any periods spent in care yourself or of supporting others who have been in care.
- A description of any other experience that you have had of the care system or of working with or supporting vulnerable young people
- Outline your commitment to your programme and explain why you have chosen to study this subject at University.
- Indicate the level of support that you receive from your funding body for your programme of study.
The statement will be assessed by a panel and applicants will be notified of a decision in September.
