Council Tax

Full time, matriculated students can apply for full Council Tax exemption on a property which is occupied entirely by students or which is a student hall of residence.

Where students are living in a property where there is one non-student also living there, students may only qualify for a 25% discount on Council Tax.

Where students are living in a property where there is more than one non-student also living there, students may not qualify for any exemption.

Full-time students who want to apply to the Council for exemption, can pick up and fill in a form at the School Office or at the Students' Union, and once completed, bring it in to the School Office to be stamped and counter-signed.

Full-time students living in other Council areas should be able to obtain a form from the Council concerned, complete the relevant section, and then bring the form to the School Office for counter-signing.

For more detailed information on Council Tax rates and exemption, please contact your local council.
