How to Apply

How you can apply for Full-time Undergraduate Courses

Applications to undergraduate courses through UCAS should be made online through the UCAS Apply web page. It is no longer possible to make your UCAS application on a paper form, unless you have exceptional circumstances.

Different arrangements are in place for applicants applying directly to UCAS, and those applying through their school or college. Full details about the application process and relevant deadlines are available on the UCAS website.

When to apply

UCAS can start receiving applications for entry in September 2006 from 1 September 2006. If at all possible your application should reach UCAS by 15 January 2006. We would encourage you to apply as early as possible, having made a careful and considered choice. Applications received by UCAS after 15 January 2006 are deemed late, and are considered at the University`s discretion. There is no guarantee that they will be given the same level of consideration as the applications we receive earlier.

How to pay for your application to UCAS

Your application fee should be paid online using a credit or debit card. If you are applying through your school or college it may be possible for the institution to be invoiced for the fee by UCAS.

The fee for a multiple (more than one choice) application is currently £15.00 and the fee for a single choice is £5.00.

Applicants who apply for a single choice but decide later to make additional choices, or who go into the UCAS Clearing Scheme, are required to pay an additional fee of £10.00.

Decisions

Once your application has been considered by the University you will be given one of the following decisions:

An UNCONDITIONAL PLACE; This is the offer of a firm place, subject only to the verification of the attainment of entry requirements.

A CONDITIONAL PLACE; This is the offer of a place subject to gaining specified entry requirements prior to entry. If the qualifications are gained, the place is guaranteed. If you do not quite meet the specified conditions you may still be accepted.

UNSUCCESSFUL; If your application is unsuccessful you are free to ask for advice or ways of improving your chances of gaining a place and to re-apply for entry in any subsequent session.

WAITING LIST; Sometimes, a waiting list is started for suitable candidates when a taught Postgraduate course becomes full. Candidates who have accepted places can change their minds, and there is therefore a chance that you may still receive an offer if you are on a waiting list.
