Access and Hardship Funds
Home Students Only
Home students who would like to apply for
support from the Hardship
Fund or for an Emergency
Loan or a Supplementary
Loan can collect a Financial Assistance Pack (including an application
form) from the Students` Union Reception. Students' Union Advisors
can also offer support in completing the application form.
Hardship
Fund
The University administers a Hardship
Fund which is provided by the Government. The Fund is there to help
students whose initial or continuing access to education might be
placed in jeopardy because of financial difficulties.
A Committee meets on a regular basis to consider
individual cases and is authorised to award money to those students
who they decide have the greatest need. To gain an award from the
Fund, students need to prove that they have exceptional circumstances
and financial hardship. Applications should be submitted to Bill
Stronach in Registry.
Emergency
Loans
Emergency Loans up to a maximum of £300
are available for students whose normal funding is late in arriving.
Completed applications should be passed to
Bill Stronach in Registry.
Supplementary
Loans
Supplementary Loans are available for students
on the "new student" scheme who would like to top up a
student loan. Students need to complete an application and make
an appointment to see Bill
Stronach to complete some further papers.
International and EU Students Only
International and EU Students may be eligible
for some financial support from a very limited fund. Details are
available from the Students` Union Advice Centre.
