The programme consists of one double module: one academic and one work-based learning component. Although approached from two perspectives, the module reflects the link between theory and practice to form an integrated whole. The course is delivered over a six-month period on a part-time basis.
The overall aim of the module is to develop clinical expertise in the evaluation, manipulation, analysis and interpretation of radiotherapy electronic portal images, facilitating optimal verification and reproduction of treatment field localisation.
The theoretical component of the module will be self-supported through independent academic study. During this study the student will have access to the entire range of Queen Margaret University electronic library facilities as well as guidance to access those provided by the respective UK Health Departments. Students will be encouraged to consider the implications of the skills they are learning in relation to current research, medico legal, ethical and governance issues.
