The overall aim of the module is to enable the therapy radiographer to demonstrate competence for all decision making processes associated with optimising and planning radiotherapy treatment for patients with primary breast cancer.

This is a work-based programme where all learning takes place within the student's own workplace. This is not a traditionally taught programme as it is designed to allow the student to develop their knowledge and skills in new areas of practice utilising the unique learning environment provided by their own clinical setting and multidisciplinary colleagues.

The programme consists of one double module: one academic and one work-based learning component. Although approached from two perspectives, the module reflects the link between theory and practice to form an integrated whole. The programme is delivered over a six-month period on a part-time basis.
