Quality at Queen Margaret University - Collaborations Manual

Introduction
This Manual is aimed at all academic and administrative staff involved in developing and running collaborative programmes. For the purposes of the Manual, collaborations are defined as arrangements entered into by Queen Margaret University with partner institutions that involve the award of a qualification or academic credit in the name of the Queen Margaret University. This includes collaborative programmes leading to a named degree outcome and short programmes which consist of one or more modules.
The Manual should be read in conjunction with relevant sections of the University’s Governance and Regulations. The procedures within this Manual represent best practice and conform as far as possible to the QAA Code of Practice. These procedures are designed to ensure that QMU has done all it can to assure the quality and standards of awards granted in its name and to provide a high quality student experience; while also meeting for the expectations of partner institutions.
We hope you will find the Manual useful and would welcome any comments or suggestions for improvement. If you would like to provide feedback, please contact Sheila Adamson, Collaborations Development Co-ordinator: sadamson@qmu.ac.uk.

Not included in this Manual
It is not within the scope of this Manual to advise on articulation or credit rating agreements.
It is recognised that QMU staff may enter into a range of co-operative arrangements that do not lead to awards of Queen Margaret University. This might include teaching on a course delivered by a partner, involvement in research projects or the delivery of a consultancy service. Such arrangements are not within the scope of this Manual, but approval in principle should be sought from the Dean of School. RKEU should be approached for advice on such agreements.
