Summary Biography
I joined QMU in November 2006 in the role of technician and demonstrator. Previously I obtained an MSc Health Psychology from QMU in 2004 and an MA (hons) Psychology from University of Glasgow in 2003.
I am also currently studying for a part time PhD.
Current / Recent Research Projects
Currently my research involves various aspects of life after a limb amputation. Key aspects include:
- Body and Self Image
- Psychosocial Adjustment
- Pain
- Prosthesis satisfaction
- Phantom limbs
My PhD involves a qualitative analysis of living with amputation. I will be interviewing both individual's living with amputation and prosthetist's working in the area. I will be using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) in order to gain a subjective understanding of this experience and allow a comparison of the views of each group.
Previous work included involvement in producing an adapted antenatal care pathway for mothers with a learning disability in conjunction with NHS Fife and the Jennifer Brown fund. This project was nominated as a finalist in the 2008 Scottish Health Awards.
