- the effects of health and illness for identity in everyday life, e.g. identities of young people classed as having ‘learning disabilities’, quality of life for older people
- healthcare professionals’ understandings of health, illness and treatment, e.g. perspectives on eating disorders
- the implications of early infant-adult interactions for atypical populations, e.g. children managing chronic illnesses such as diabetes, asthma and cystic fibrosis
- issues of communication and identity across a diversity of settings, e.g. constructions of human resource managers and older jobseekers in organizational contexts, identities of migrants into established communities
