Are the courses accredited?
The BSc (Hons) Psychology course at Queen Margaret is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS). Successful completion of an accredited Honours degree at 2:2 level or above confers graduate basis for chartered membership (GBC)of the BPS. GBC is necessary to enrol on a BPS approved postgraduate course. The BSc Psychology (ordinary degree) and the joint degree are not accredited by the BPS.
I don’t have the qualifications for a single Honours degree. What should I do?
If your qualifications fall short of the requirement for a single Honours degree, it might also be worth considering a joint degree as the entrance qualifications for this are lower. Please email jhughes@qmu.ac.uk to enquire about joint courses. You should note, however, the joint degree is not accredited by the British Psychological Society.
What if I don’t have enough qualifications for either course?
If your qualifications fall short of either course you have three options. Firstly, you could undertake extra Highers or A levels to bring your qualifications up to the required level. You might also consider taking an HNC in a related subject. Lastly, you could enrol on an Access to Education course. Successful completion of an access course enables entry to many undergraduate courses, including BSc (Hons) Psychology, BSc (Hons) Health Psychology and BSc Psychology and Sociology. Further information can be found at the Scottish Wider Access Programme www.scottishwideraccess.org
