Day in the Life

Photograph of a day in life of a student

Fatma Al-Dhabari from Oman
Hello, my name is Fatma Al-Dhabari from Oman. I joined Queen Margaret in 1999. I started with the Foundation Programme and then in 2000, I joined the BSc (Hons) Nursing. I have just completed my third year and am now going into my fourth year.

The BSc in Nursing at QM is a very enjoyable course. The staff are really helpful and friendly as they are always there for you when you need them. Although it is a very hard course, with help and study it can become easier. QM is a very nice place to be, as you feel like you are at home and you meet many other international students. My best experience has been in the hospitals where I have worked with all the different age group. I especially enjoyed working with the elderly.

Scotland is a wonderful place to be, where you can meet people from all over the world.

Tsz-Shan Chan from Hong Kong
My name's Tsz-Shan Chan, I'm from Hong Kong. I'm a second year dietetics student. I stayed in the hall of residences, which are located within the campus. Therefore, I spent most of my time at QM during the last year I was in Edinburgh. Although QM isn't very big, it has many facilities provided for the students, such as swimming pool, canteens, IT centre, etc. There is an international office that we can turn to when we need any help. I like QM as it is, not too big, a nice quiet place for study. QM is easy access to the city centre and there is a big supermarket and some village shops just down the hill. Also, the Edinburgh Zoo is just about 15 minutes away from QM; the zoo is my favourite place.''

Raghavendra Kurkal from India
My year at QM has been one of the most interesting and exciting years of my life. There has been a tremendous amount of learning in and out of class. The teachers were helpful and patient to listen to any issues my class or I had. The Campus is beautiful and the sports facilities are well maintained. It was a great opportunity to meet and make friends with people from across the world.

Muna Al-Khussaibi from Oman
Hello there my fellow students! My name is Muna Al-Khussaibi from the beautiful Sultanate of Oman. I arrived in Edinburgh in 1996 where I joined the Foundation Programme that prepared me for my future course in Information Management. In 1998, I started my course and now I am a BA (Hons) graduate in Information Management. I chose this course as there is a need fo the Information Professions in Oman and also I find that computers inspire me. I have gained throughout my study here at QM the confidence, as well as acquired various skills ranging from the interpersonal, organisational, communication and adminstration. QM staff are very helpful and kind as they are always there whenever you are in need.

I have enjoyed studying and living in Edinburgh as I considered it as my second home. It is a place of peace, harmony and excitement. The people here are kind, loving and friendly. I also had the opportunity to meet a lot of people of different backgrounds and culture.
