How to decide which course to study?

There are thousands of degree courses on offer in the UK and Edinburgh alone has four universities, in addition to the Open University (OU).

It is not surprising therefore that for many prospective students choosing the right course can take a while. If you are not sure what you want to do or what course might suit you, you may find it helpful to talk to an impartial careers adviser. Careers Scotland can offer individual career and educational guidance interviews to adults in Scotland. Call 0845 8 502 502 or visit the Careers Scotland website.

The following websites are also good sources of careers and course information:

Got a specific career idea in mind? Speak to someone working in that field to find out more about what they do and entry routes.

Our Transition and Pre-Entry Guidance Adviser and College Articulation Officer can also provide advice and guidance on making sure you make the right subject choice, and provide some tips on how to maximise your chance of being made an offer, along with directing you to other useful resources.
