Postgraduate Research

The bursary competition is now CLOSED. The next general competition will be advertised in Spring 2012.
If you wish to apply to undertake a research degree in a different topic, for an MPhil, or on a non-resident basis, you are welcome to apply for a self-funded programme. Please see How to Apply.
Bursary competition 2011
Queen Margaret University is making funds available to support PhD students undertaking research in our key research themes. Funding will be allocated through one, university-wide competition. Full details are below:
What does the studentship cover?
Successful candidates will receive:
- full waiver of tuition fees
- an annual stipend of £11,000 for 3 years
- £2000 over the course of the project for expenses and travel
Students would start in September 2011. Funding lasts for 3 years for full-time students, 6 years for part-time.
Research methods training is offered in the first semester but after that there are no taught elements as such - students are expected to manage their own research project, with guidance from a supervisor.
