Gloria Dunlop has been a member of the Podiatry lecturing team since 1979, when two years after qualifying from the Glasgow School of Chiropody and working in the Scottish NHS, she decided to teach. She completed her teaching qualification at Jordanhill Teaching college in Glasgow in 1980 and in 1996 completed an MSc in adult and continuing education at Glasgow University.
Gloria has taught various aspect of the Podiatry degree and currently delivers Clinical Management to the third year students which requires team work between herself, other members of the lecturing team and the students. Gloria also works with the third year students on a module that gives them the opportunity to design a protocol for a clinical audit. Again, good team work is required here to help students mould their ideas into a practicable piece of research. Like the rest of the team, she teaches clinical practice across the levels 1, 2 and 3 of the curriculum. Gloria‘s is the programme leader for the MSc Podiatry that is delivered through distance elearning and teaches on the degree conversion courses which is also a distance elearning programme. Throughout her teaching career she has contributed a chapter to several editions of the core Podiatry text book, Neale’s Disorders of the Foot on Patient Education.
Gloria provides advice on foot health and has piblished a number of articles on ladies' footwear fashion.
Gloria has worked within the University developing Continuing Professional Development for other healthcare professionals. During this time she further developed her expertise in using electronic resources to improve teaching and learning for healthcare professionals through distance elearning.
She has also worked in association with the Centre for Academic Practice at QMU teaching academic and non academic staff how to use an eportfolio system for personal and professional development.
