Pharmacology for Podiatrists
Cost £500
Entry Requirements - you are required to be annotated on the HPC register for the use of local anaestetics and should be educated to ordinary degree level (BSc).
This is a single module, accredited by the HPC, taught at Masters level and is worth 15 Masters academic credits.
This module has been validated by the HPC and will lead to annotation on the HPC register on successful completion.
This module can be studied on its own or can contribute to the MSc Podiatry or can be studied as part of the MSc Podiatric Surgery.
This module will be delivered through distance elearning with an option to attend classes at Queen Margaret Univetrsity, Edinburgh for 2 days in September and 2 days in January.
The dates for classes are;
Monday the 12th September 2011 and Tuesday the 13th September 2011 and
Monday the 16th January 2012 and Tuesday the 17th January 2012.

The principles of pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetics
The action and use of drugs used in podiatry and for disorders relating to podiatry practice.
Introduction to the assignment and course content for block 3.
Block 2
Distance Learning with tutor support on QMU weblink.
Block 3
Attendance at QMU for lecture presentation on Monday the 16th January 2011 and Tuesday the 17th January 2011. Attendance is optional.

Lecture Content
The action and use of drugs used for disorders relating to podiatry partice continued.
The MHRA (Medicine and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency) and the Yellow card Scheme .
Sale , Supply and Administration of Drugs by Podiatrists. Writing orders for drugs, labelling, storage, handling, liasing with pharmacists and general practitioners.
Block 4 Distance learning and preparation for final examination.
Examination and Assessement
This module involves;
one assessment which will be issued in block 1 and submitted in January at the beginning of block 3.
one multiple choice written examination which will require attendance at QMU.
To pass the module the assignment will require a pass mark of 50% and the examination will require a pass mark of 60%. Compensation between the two components will be allowed.
