  • BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy, Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh
  • PhD Health Sciences (Pain), Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh
  • HPC Registered Physiotherapist

Prior to my PhD studies I worked within the NHS as a senior neuromusculoskeletal physiotherapist. My PhD research involved the use of qualitative methodologies to explore perspectives on chronic pain in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) – exploring the views of consultant rheumatologists and people living with RA. I commenced full time lecturing at Queen Margaret University in 2005 and am involved in undergraduate and post-graduate teaching and learning related to the neuromusculoskeletal theme.

My research interests relate to exploration of healthcare users perspectives and educational research. More specifically, my interest in educational research relates to how students can be engaged in curriculum design and exploration of how network technologies may be used to enhance learning. The latter research interests are linked to my current study towards an MSc in Professional Education.

Potential areas for PhD supervision:

  • Qualitative studies in healthcare – exploration of users and healthcare workers perspectives
