On completion of my PhD I worked for two years as a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Communication and Neuroscience at University of Keele. My research involved investigation of structural and functional repair mechanisms in the mammalian inner ear following aminoglycoside antibiotic-induced hearing loss.
I then moved to University of Central England in Birmingham, where I was employed for 8 years as a Lecturer in Applied Human Physiology. During this time, I developed and delivered a variety of physiology modules on the Speech and Language Therapy, Nursing, Clinical Nursing Studies, Radiography and Health Studies courses.
I have worked at QMU since 2005 and currently teach Physiology modules to BSc. and MSc. (Pre-Reg.) Physiotherapy students. I also coordinate the Research Project modules on the BSc and MSc. (FT) Physiotherapy courses.
My current research interests include evaluation of Physical Activity as an adjunct intervention in community-based patients with severe enduring mental illness in collaboration with staff at the Royal Edinburgh hospital.
