Title : Influence of obesity on total knee replacement outcomes.

Topic: The research project explores the influence of obesity on the functional outcomes of total knee replacement (TKR) surgery. Four methods for measuring body composition (BMI, ultrasound, bioelectrical impedance analysis and waist to hip ratio) will be used to evaluate which best predicts the outcomes of TKR surgery. Surgical outcome include: the primary outcome measure of knee function (Knee Society Score), objective assessment of pain, stiffness, self reported function assessment (Short Form 36 Health Survey Questionnaire), WOMAC and activity levels via ActivePAL accelerometer.
