Title : An investigation of laboratory and clinical lower limb ischaemic pain and the effect of TENS on measures of pain and walking performance.
Topic: I am studying ischaemic pain, similar to that experienced by patients with Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) and Intermittent Claudication (IC). The main aims of my investigation are to examine the specific nature and quality of laboratory induced ischaemic pain and clinical ischaemic pain, in the form of Intermittent Claudication (IC), while investigating the effect of Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS), on measures of pain, associated psychological factors and walking distance. If successful, TENS could be used as a adjunct to current treatment of PAD and IC, to help reduce pain and increase walking distance.
