Title: Evaluating the role of a home based early years intervention in promoting physical activity, motor fitness and cognitive and social development in preschool Scottish children.

Topic: Young children in Scotland have shown increasing levels obesity and sedentary behaviour. Home based intervention programmes have recently been developed to help promote physical activity and movement skills in preschool children. To date there has been no objective evaluations to see if these programmes are successful in meeting their aims of increased physical activity and improved movement skills. This research will compare the physical activity and motor skills in preschool children in an area where the programme is established, against an area where currently no programme exists.
