Heather qualified as an occupational therapist in 1980 and has since worked in a variety of settings including adult mental health, paediatrics and child and family mental health in Glasgow and Edinburgh.  Heather began working in education after completing her MSc (Education) at the University of Edinburgh and joined the team at Queen Margret University, Edinburgh in 1997. She is currently programme leader for the undergraduate BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy programme at Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh. Heather’s occupational therapy interests include enhancing patient participation in mental health, understanding meaning through participation in occupation and promoting reflexivity in practice.  Her educational focus centres around promoting autonomous learners who are “reasonable adventurers” and who are able to make a significant difference to people’s lives in a variety of contexts.
