BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy (Queen Margaret University College, 2001)

Since qualifying in 2001, Gail Carin-Levy has held a variety of both clinical and research positions, predominantly in the acute medical setting with a special interest in stroke research and early supported discharge from hospital.

Gail began working as a lecturer in Occupational Therapy in 2005 and has kept a clinical commitment as a Bank Occupational Therapist in NHS Borders. Gail is also undertaking a PhD on the topic of Post Stroke Delirium. 

Gail’s current roles include module coordination of “Mind Brain Body and Context” (undergraduate) – predominantly teaching anatomy, applied physiology and pathophysiology of conditions that are relevant to the practice of Occupational Therapy. Gail also maintains a teaching commitment to Post Graduate Diploma students and regularly supervises both undergraduate and Masters level dissertations. 

Gail’s research interests are evident from her recent publications in peer-reviewed journals, these are in the areas of stroke care and the value of engagement in purposeful activities.
