This programme aims to meet the needs of public relations and marketing organisations as well as the wider business community, offering you a range of employment opportunities. The programme is structured around a core of public relations and brand-marketing, with a particular focus upon the service sector, the largest employer in this field. You will learn about the role of marketing and public relations as a central activity within and between organisations and individuals and as a field of academic study. You will explore public relations and marketing from the theoretical and practical perspective, and will often apply your knowledge to real-life situations as a means of preparation for working life.

In studying the public relations and marketing core areas you learn:

  • How organisations promote themselves and their ideas and services via public relations and advertising;
  • Strategic aspects of communication including how companies communicate with their different stakeholder groups including their own employees, customers and the media;
  • The philosophy, concepts, techniques, and application of marketing;
  • Consumer psychology and behaviour.
