Student Funding:
Scottish students should contact The Students Award Agency for
Scotland (SAAS) on 0845-111-1711 or via email at http://www.saas.gov.uk
to find out what financial support they are entitled to. Remember
to give SAAS details of your dependents and information about any
previous study you have undertaken at Higher Education level to
ensure that they can give you accurate advice about what you are
likely to be entitled to.
It may also be possible for students with children to get extra
funding from either the Childcare Fund (not available to those studying
on an Allied Health Profession course) or from the Discretionary Fund.
Both of these funds are held by the University and decisions made by a
small committee of staff.
Students and their families could also be entitled to more money
through the tax credits system. Contact the online calculator at
http://www.inlandrevenue.gov.uk/taxcredits
or contact the benefits agency.
