Carole graduates with 1st class honours
A twenty-four year old from East Lothian has graduated with a first class honours degree from Queen Margaret University.
Carole Arbuckle from Prestonpans graduated from QMU with a first class honours degree in Marketing Management.
Her dissertation, which was highly praised by NHS Lothian, focussed on ‘Stress and Stress Control: the impact of marketing’. As part of her dissertation project, Carole worked with Patricia Graham, the Head of Adult Mental Health in NHS Lothian. The NHS was looking for a solution to the poor uptake of its Stress Control classes. Carole interviewed psychologists who run the classes and developed a marketing plan. The NHS is now looking to implement these ideas to improve the promotion of the Stress Control classes and substantially increased attendance, hopefully resulting in Lothian residents learning to control their stress levels.
Carole’s work with the NHS emphasises the relevance of Queen Margaret University’s research work and fits with its philosophy of improving quality of life.
Last week, Carole celebrated her graduation success with family and friends at the capital’s Festival Theatre. She graduated alongside the Scottish actor, David Hayman (star of Lynda Le Plante’s ‘Trial and Retribution’); David Duke, founder of the social enterprise, Street Soccer Scotland; and Jacqui Lunday, Chief Health Professions Officer with the Scottish Government, who were awarded honorary degrees.
