QMU Wins Outstanding Leadership Category in UK Awards
Edinburgh, June 22 2012 ; The management team at Queen Margaret University was presented with a prestigious higher education sector leadership award at a ceremony in London last night. Within three years QMU has been transformed from a university facing many challenges in terms of its finances, strategy and organisational culture, to be recognised as having the best leadership and management in the sector in the UK.
The Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Awards celebrate leadership, management, financial and business skills in UK higher education institutions. QMU has been recognised for its clear decision-making and staff engagement which has been pivotal to its success in increasing student applications, student numbers, research and commercialisation success, and financial results.
Commenting on the success, QMU Principal Professor Petra Wend said;
“I am delighted that QMU’s senior management team has achieved this highly respected national award. In restructuring the organisation and developing a clear and widely understood mission, vision and strategy through consultation, we are energised, in a healthy financial position and performance has greatly improved.”
QMU has developed three academic flagships in health and rehabilitation, sustainable business and culture and creativity.
The Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Awards were announced during an evening ceremony on 21 June 2012 at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London.
