QMU CONVERSATIONS with Joyce McMillan
Joyce McMillan holds public interviews with leading figures of theatre and screen
The distinguished theatre critic, Joyce McMillan, is to interview prominent figures from the worlds of theatre and screen in front of a public audience.
Joyce McMillan, who is a visiting Professor at Queen Margaret University’s School of Drama and Creative Industries, will conduct a series of high profile interviews with well known actors, directors and producers during November and December this year.
The QMU Conversations series, which will include an interview with the Scottish actor, Bill Paterson star of ‘Sea of Souls’, ‘Little Dorrit’ and ‘Law and Order:UK’, and, is open to the public, creative industry practitioners and students.
Joyce McMillan explained: “The idea behind the series is to give both drama students and the general public an insight into the work of some of Scotland’s most successful theatre and screen professionals and to offer some wider reflections on the development of Scotland’s stage and screen culture over the last few decades.”
In November, Joyce will also interview actor and director, David Hayman, star of ITV police drama ‘Trial and Retribution’; and David MacLennan, producer of Glasgow’s very successful ‘A Play, A Pie and A Pint’ seasons, and former artistic director of Wildcat Stage Productions.
Vicky Featherstone and John Tiffany,Artistic Director and Associate Director of the National Theatre of Scotland, will be interviewed in December.
Joyce concluded: “I am delighted to have such a distinguished and exciting line-up of industry professionals to introduce to our rising generation of theatre artists at Queen Margaret University’s School of Drama and Creative Industries. These sessions, which are sure to be entertaining, will most certainly offer an insight into career development in the theatre.”

Each interview will begin at 5.15pm, open questions at 6pm, followed by a drinks reception at 6.30pm.
