Public health minister and QMU graduate launches community nursing website at QMU

Michael Matheson, Minister for Public Health, took centre stage at Queen Margaret University (QMU) this week when he took part in an important community nursing event. The ‘Modernising Nursing in the Community Website Launch’ organised jointly by The Scottish Government and NHS Education for Scotland, attracted nursing professionals from all over Scotland. The Minister, who is an occupational therapy graduate of QMU, spoke at the event and took part in a live on-line web chat about the new website.  Ros Moore, Chief Nursing Officer, spoke about her ambitions for community nursing and both Jane Harris from the Scottish Government and Jane Cantrell from NES conducted a demonstration of the new website.

The Minister delighted QMU staff by taking the time to talk to a class of occupational therapy students about his work. Michael takes a keen interest in QMU, making annual visits to the University to talk to students and staff with the in Faculty of Health Sciences.
