Short Loans and 7 Day Loans

Items which are in high demand can placed on Short Loan or 7 Day Loan by lecturers. This is to enable access for as many students as possible. Short Loans are a temporary collection whereas 7 Day Loan is a permanent collection.

Short Loans are held in the Academic Reserve Room and may be borrowed for 4 hours at a time during the day. Items in the Short Loan Room must be issued using the self-issue machines, opposite the LRC Service Desk.

7 Day loans are integrated with the main library stock but can be identified by a yellow label and bookmark.

Overnight and weekend borrowing of Short Loans

Short Loan Collection - short loan items may be borrowed for 4 hours during the day. After 5pm (Monday to Friday in term-time) and after 3pm (in holiday periods) they may be borrowed overnight - to be returned by 10am the following morning.

At the weekend, items can be borrowed overnight from 12 noon to be returned by 10am the following day. That is, items borrowed on Saturday and Sunday will be due back on Sunday and Monday respectively.

Note: fines for overdue 4-hour loans are charged at £1 per hour. Repeated late returns will result in borrowing privileges being reduced. 7 day Loans are fine at 50p a day.
