Biographical statement
Margaret Leppard is an applied social anthropologist, specialising in cultural understandings of organizations and health and illness. She has 20 years of experience in primary care, health personnel training, policy development and organizational research in Bangladesh working with a Bangladeshi NGO, HEED Bangladesh, UNICEF and GTZ. She also has experience in Malawi, Nigeria, Ethiopia and Zambia. Margaret worked full time at IIHD 1999-2008 as a Senior Lecturer and is now an Associate. She uses innovative and participatory methods to teach Project Design and Management and Population and continues to supervise dissertation and PhD students and various short term assignments.
Areas of interest Her current research interests are male involvement in maternal health services in Bangladesh and research base for maternal health advocacy in Pakistan (with Aberdeen University) and culture and health service management in Malawi.
