Biographical statement

Kimiko Abe is a health economist and has worked as a consultant or a project expert of bilateral cooperation projects in different countries in Asia, Africa, and Middle East for eight years. She has worked at different levels of the health system: from community to national policy and experienced different types of research works: evaluations (participatory) and formulations of projects, national health policies, and bilateral cooperation strategies.

She is currently studying, as her PhD study, issues of contracting out government health services to Non-Governmental Organizations in Cambodia, focusing particularly on economic incentives and their impact on health works.

While studying the PhD topic, she has been teaching an intensive course in Japan for these three years. Also, she has worked as a project expert for a bilateral project in the area of Maternal Child Health Project in Cambodia, focusing on incentives to health volunteers.
