Michael is a Registered Dietitain and a Registered Public Health Nutritionist. He has twenty five years of experience in the field of nutrition, having worked within the National Health Service, Food Industry and Higher Education. During this time he has appeared on local and national radio and television and has had numerous news paper quotes published.
Michael was an expert member of the Scottish Executive Expert Panel on School Meals and member of the Nutrition subgroup that wrote the Scottish Nutritional Guidelines for School Meals.

His current research interest is in the area of public health nutrition, but especially focussed on children. He is particularly interested in the measurement of nutrient intakes in children and determining the factors that can affect that intake .
