MSc Human Nutrition and Metabolism, University of Aberdeen

PhD Clinical Nutrition, Hospital for Sick Children & University of Toronto, Canada

On completion of my PhD, which involved investigating amino acid and protein metabolism using stable isotope techniques, I returned to the UK and worked in industry for a short while. After relocating to Edinburgh, I worked for three years as a part-time lecturer teaching nutrition at QMU. Interspersed between studying and academic jobs, I have managed to gain over 5 years experience as a clinical dietitian in a variety of roles, including paediatrics and gastroenterology. More recently, I held the position of Project Manager in Paediatrics at Numico Research, developing and researching new clinical nutrition products for Nutricia.

I returned to QMU in September 2006 as Lecturer in Biochemistry & Metabolism, teaching a wide variety of modules within the Dept. of Dietetics, Nutrition and Biological Sciences and co-ordinating the Masters Dissertation module. I am currently establishing a research portfolio in collaboration with the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh, investigating various aspects of paediatric nutrition
