BSc Nutrition and Dietetics, Robert Gordon’s Institute of Technology, Aberdeen

MSc Research in Remedial and Caring Practice, Loughborough University

Since completing my BSc in Nutrition and Dietetics I have had a varied dietetic career in hospitals in Gloucester, Nottingham, Newcastle, Edinburgh and Dunfermline. My main dietetic interest has been nutritional support and I have had a variety of clinical experience in this area including oncology, intensive care, neuro-rehabilitation and gastroenterology. I have been an active member of the British Dietetic Association including being a committee member of the Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition Group, course tutor and course leader for the PENG Clinical update, a committee member of the BDA validation committee and a member of the prescribing working party .

I joined QMU as the Post-Graduate Dietetic Programme Leader in October 2004. I currently teach a wide variety of modules from 2nd year UG to PG level on the Dietetic, Nutrition, Human Biology and Applied Pharmacology programmes.

I have been involved in audit and research throughout my career and completed an MSc in 1994. I have recently registered for a PhD and my current research interests include habitual activity levels, nutritional intake and their impact on healthy aging and nutritional assessment and changes in body composition in the older adult.

I continue to be a registered dietitian with the Health Professions Council.
