Dietetics, Nutrition and Biological Sciences - Special Needs Information

Academic Disabled Student
Co-ordinator
The Subject Area aims to support
students with special needs wherever possible. Depending
on the individual this might include extra time in exams,
the use of a scribe, lecture notes being provided in advance
or in different formats, and special arrangements for medical
and physical problems. Prospective students should be aware
that all undergraduate courses involve many hours of practical
laboratory work. If you are worried this might pose a difficulty,
please contact the Academic Disabled Student Co-ordinator, Dr
Douglas McBean.
Students should also be aware that the Dietetics
courses involve three periods of placement in a clinical setting.
These placements are full-time 9 to 5. They are a mandatory
part of the course in order to achieve State Registration.
If for health or other reasons you don't think you would be
able to complete these placements you should seek advice
from the Health Professions Council (HPC)
before
applying for the course.
Assistance
and guidance can also be obtained from the Student Disability
Advisor who can be contacted via this link.
