Dietetic Clinical Placement Information (for TRAINERS)
June 10, 2009
Welcome to the QMUC web pages dedicated to
trainers of QMUC Dietetic students
Our aim is to provide you with up-to-date
information on our particular students and we would value your comments
and opinions on what you would like to see on these pages.
Undergraduate (UG) Programme Leader: Sara
Smith - 0131 474 0000
Postgraduate (PG) Programme Leader: Jacklyn
Jones - 0131 474 0000 The HPC approved Dietetic
programmes at QMUC are housed
within the Dietetics, Nutrition & Biological Sciences subject
area of the School of Health Sciences. The School also includes
a number of other Allied Health Profession and Nursing programmes (Physiotherapy,
Occupational Therapy, Podiatry, Nursing).
The Subject Area has a strong research and quality
in teaching background necessary to underpin and support the teaching
of future Dietitians. The Subject Area has one of the highest Nutrition
SHEFC RAE ratings (3a) in Scotland and the UK (RAE 2001), coupled
with one of the highest proportions of research active staff in
Scotland. In addition, the Subject Area was awarded an Excellent
in teaching quality and assessment in the last QAA exercise.

There are many collaborative research opportunities,
for students and qualified Dietitians alike, at QMUC and more information
on the reasearch areas of interest and opportunities for MPhil,
MSc and PhD studies can be found on our Research
pages.
Further Support for New and Existing Trainers
We are more than happy to help with developing and
supporting new and current trainers and currently offer
CPD courses
free to all those taking our students.
We like to think that students' training
is very rewarding and would encourage all departments to seriously
consider training students. We are happy to help in
any way, however, if you are considering providing A, B or C Placements
in the first instance you should contact Susan Shandley
(Scotland only), or your designated link HEI.
