PgCert in Professional and Higher Education
The PgCert in Professional and Higher Education at Queen Margaret University is designed to meet the professional and academic needs of people who have significant educational remits within their work. The focus is practice-based, so that learners can apply educational theories and strategies in their own workplace.
This course is for professionals who are involved in education and training (for example, lecturers in further and higher education, community educators, allied health professionals, nurses and midwives, librarians, IT professionals) and by the end of each module learners will have gained valuable knowledge, understanding and experience of relevance to their own teaching and learning context.
Learners will benefit from working with a network of other professionals to:
- Use educational principles and approaches to improve practice;
- Enhance skills, to work effectively in a complex, changing educational environment;
- Take a scholarly approach to improve the learning experience.
Any of the individual modules of the programme can be taken as free-standing modules for continuing professional development. Core modules include:
- Education in action;
- Curriculum development;
- One elective module.
