Personal Profile: Alisha Ali has been actively involved in the hospitality and tourism industry for the past ten years. She has completed a Bachelors of Science Degree in Tourism Management and a Masters Degree in Management Studies. Currently, she is a full-time Ph.D. Student in eTourism in the School of Business and Enterprise at Queen Margaret University, UK where she is researching Tourism, Sustainability and New Technology. She has lectured in the travel and tourism field in several disciplines such as Front Office Operations, Accommodation Management, Rooms Division Management, Sustainable Tourism, Caribbean Travel and Tourism, Introduction to Hospitality and Tourism and Human Resources Management.
In addition to academic activities, Alisha has worked both locally, regionally and internationally in the hospitality and tourism field. Some of her career highlights includes developing marketing communication material for the travel and tourism industry, conducting market research and analysis of world-wide trends in the hospitality industry, developing feasibility studies for industry stakeholders and working on “live” tourism plans and projects and participating in their implementation in the Caribbean. Current research interests include sustainable tourism, computer-mediated sustainability and tourism in developing countries.
