PROGRAMME INFORMATION - M.Sc. in DANCE MOVEMENT PSYCHOTHERAPY

Structure:

The programme can be studied on a full-time (2 years) or a part-time (3 years) basis in an integrated model of teaching and learning. In all cases, there is an expectation for students to attend sessions at the University as well as engage in clinical placement. Placements are located in at least two contrasting settings. Personal therapy is an additional requirement for the whole duration of the programme.Student-centred learning and independent study is a key feature of this programme.

Teaching and Assessment:
Teaching will take place in the form of lectures, seminars, workshops and experiential work. There will be both summative and formative assessments that include written assignments, presentations and creative performance

Programme Content:
During the course of the study, the following areas will be covered:

  • Historical and contemporary approaches and philosophical underpinnings

  • Core psychotherapeutic concepts and applications

  • Working with a range of client groups and critique of different approaches

  • Biopsychosocial perspectives and appraisal of relevant literature

  • Basic and applied research methods

  • Basic and advanced Dance Movement Psychotherapy skills

  • Anatomy and physiology

  • Movement observation and analysis

  • Supervised clinical practice (placement)
