Recycle Your Old Mobile Phones with QMU and Bananagreen

QMU has teamed up with mobile phone recycling company Bananagreen, to give people the opportunity to recycle their old mobile phones in the most environmentally friendly way possible, and at the same time raise much needed funds to support environmental sustainability at QMU. For every phone that Bananagreen receives, they make a donation to support environmental sustainability on the new campus.

QMU has partnered with Bananagreen because unlike many other recycling companies, Bananagreen don’t just sell on the phones they receive, they actually recondition them. If they can’t recondition the phones, Bananagreen will extract all of the recyclable bits and dispose of any hazardous components in a responsible way.

QMU is planting over 45,000 trees in the new campus grounds. A wide range of native species is being planted; oak, ash, hawthorn, holly, hazel, cherry, birch…. And the list goes on! As well as trees, QMU is creating meadows, hedgerows and a variety of interesting plants will be used to encourage biodiversity in the two ponds that have been developed on the site.

Our new ecologically diverse campus is not just a resource for QMU’s students and staff. This is a community resource as well and we are happy to welcome members of the public and especially our alumni. If you have not been to the campus yet please feel free to come and see first hand what we have created at QMU.

QMU would like your help to take part in the initiative by sending us your old mobile phones. It’s simple; just send an e-mail to development@qmu.ac.uk with your address details and we will send you out a freepost envelope for your mobile phone that can be sent free of charge to Bananagreen.

Thanks for your support!
