The Chefs - Albert Roux Dinner

The dinner in May 2012 will again comprise a line up of some of the best chefs in Scotland. This will include Andrew Fairlie, Brian Maule and Malcolm Webster , all of whom have had a connection to Albert Roux in the past, and all of whom are keen to create a dining experience that will be truly memorable. To preserve the intimacy of the night, a limited number of 100 tickets only are available for this most special of evenings.

Not only will these chefs be involved in the design of the menu, some of the rising stars from their own kitchens will help to cook the dinner, alongside a number of our first year Hospitality Management students. The connection to young people in the hospitality industry is the key focus for the dinner, and developing young talent is one of Albert Roux’s main principles, something in which he fervently believes and this dinner, held in his honour, will celebrate that! |
So, on the night of the 12 th May 2012 guests can expect a truly fantastic dining experience. A champagne reception featuring Albert Roux’s own champagne will start the evening off, at which a range of beautiful canapés will be served. Guests will be able to mingle with the chefs at this point prior to being seated for dinner. Andrew, Brian, Malcolm and Albert Roux have agreed to each host a table, so some of the diners will spend the evening in the company of one of these noted celebrities, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for most people, and something which will be genuinely memorable.

The menu for the dinner is still in the planning phase but it will most certainly showcase the best of Scotland’s natural larder, and our chefs will be meeting soon to finalise the details. A range of fine wines will be served with the dinner, sourced from some of the leading wine houses in Scotland and these will be carefully matched with the various components in the menu. |
The dinner, however, is not only about food! This event will also showcase some of the talents of other students in the School of Arts, Social Sciences and Management. Our costume design students will create stunning period costumes focusing on Catherine The Great, which will lavishly embrace the concept of food in their design. Our performing arts students will show these costumes off during the course of the evening, and our film and media students will present a number of film excerpts that link to the event. So the evening promises to be truly wonderful, with not only the gustatory senses being assailed but the visual too!
