| Sofía Reino graduated from Centro Español de Nuevas Profesiones - Universidad de A Coruña (Spain) in 2003, being awarded a Degree in Tourism. She then moved to the UK to continue her education and enrolled in a top-up year at Buckinghamshire Chilterns University, attaining a BA honours degree in Travel and Tourism Management in 2004. In 2005, Sofía completed her MSc in Heritage Tourism Development with distinction, at the University of Sunderland. Soon after this, she gained a scholarship to fund her Ph.D. in Benchmarking ICT adoption by tourism sectors at Queen Margaret University. This project has recently been successfully completed.
Additionally to her teaching and research at QMU, during her Ph.D. studies Sofía collaborated with different Institutions, both for further research and teaching. She worked as guest lecturer for the University of Sunderland, where she also collaborated in the development of the European Commission project entitled "Integrated e-Services for Advanced Access to Heritage in Cultural Tourist Destinations" (ISSAC), funded through the IST programme. Furthermore, she was also appointed as a part time lecturer at Edinburgh Napier University, and she also collaborated in the project “International cross cultural tourism definition research”, involving 22 partners from major Universities worldwide .
